FAQs

• How do I sign up for a Distill account?

  If you're already a user, you can log in here. You can sign up on your own here: https://distill.fyi/auth/signup

  • You can sign up to Distill by signing into your Google account or by using your email. If you use the email method, you’ll receive a confirmation email to sign into Distill.

    

• Can I own and manage my own Distill profile?

  • Yes, you can sign up for Distill and claim your Distill profile. Sign up and see What does the Chrome extension do to learn more.

• Why does it take time to load and generate a profile?

  • When updating or generating a profile for the first time, a loading bar will appear, indicating the time required to provide updated information about the person or company. Loading a profile typically takes a minute or two to get the most up-to-date information.

  • Tip: You won't need to wait for the profile to be generated. You can let it update in the background and come back later to check on the profile. You can see your last visited profiles in your dashboard or on the recents tab.

• Can I remove/delete a Distill profile?

  We will not remove Distill profiles on request. Distill only shows information that is already publicly visible on the internet. And so, if there are social posts or articles about someone online that are indexed and searchable, they will likely be on someone’s Distill profile as well.

  • Distill links are not indexed on the internet, so Google cannot search them.

  • You can sign up for Distill to manage your own account and control what is shown. See: What can I update on my Distill profile?

  • You can update the source so they are not public, and Distill will automatically update not to display them.

• An email address on my Dashboard meeting calendar or is List is not tied to a Distill profile? How can I fix that?

  You can help us map email addresses we’re unsure of by searching for them in our database or providing additional details. Mapping an email to a Distill profile is a one-time process that will also apply to other Distill users. Here’s how to resolve email addresses not tied to a profile:

  1. Click on the email entry. This can be in your dashboard meetings or on a List.

  2. A sidebar will open from the right with the email address showing.

  3. Search for their full name and company name.

  4. Or, use an existing Distill profile URL or a LinkedIn profile URL to map the person and help identify them.

  5. The email will be updated with the relevant Distill profile for viewing.

• Can I not specify a company in my work experience?

  You can add “Stealth” or any other phrasing to not specify your company name. You can also not link your work experience to a company, and instead, not have it linked. See: How to Update Work Experience and Education

• Does Distill work on mobile? Do you have a mobile app?

  Yes, you can use Distill on mobile. We do not currently have a mobile app, but let us know if you would like one, [email protected]

• Can I sign up for Distill on mobile?

  No. Please sign up for Distill on desktop/laptop first. And then you can access and use Distill on mobile afterwards.

• Can I use Distill on Safari instead of Chrome?

  Yes, you can install the Distill Chrome extension on Chrome and continue to use Distill on Safari.

  1. Get set up on Chrome and install the Chrome extension. See: What can I do with the Distill Chrome extension?

  2. Open Safari and log into your Distill account and continue to use Distill from Safari.
