Mentioned Entities - Give Search Examples

What This Feature Does

When you provide an example person or company profile, Distill analyzes their key traits—such as background, industry, role, company stage, or other relevant attributes—and uses those patterns to surface similar profiles that match those characteristics.I t's like saying "find me more people like this" without having to define every criterion manually.

This makes it easy to expand your network or research by finding people and companies that fit the same pattern as profiles you already know and trust.

How It Works

1. Start Your Search

Begin by entering your search prompt as you usually would.

2. Set Your Search Scope

Choose what type of results you want to find:

  • Auto – Let Distill determine the best mix of results
  • People – Search for individual profiles
  • Companies – Search for company profiles
  • Investors – Search specifically for investor profiles

3. Add Example Profiles

  • To use the look-alike feature, mention specific companies or people in your search by typing @ followed by the name. Distill will provide autofill suggestions to help you select the most appropriate profile. Examples:
    • "Find founders like @Russ Heddleston"
    • "Find companies similar to @Distill"
    • "Find investors who back startups like @CompanyName"
  • Or, you can copy and paste a LinkedIn URL or a Distill profile and we will add the profile to your search.
  1. You can remove any mentioned entities by updating the prompt and removing the mention.
