Contact Syncing - Indexing your LinkedIn Contacts

By indexing your connections, we can have all your contacts catalogued in one place. Contacts can be used to search more accurately when using People Search to browse through your contacts and gain more insight. This is a one-time process during onboarding to help process your connections. Go to your Contacts tab to see more.

Requirement: You'll need to download the Distill Chrome extension (see help article) for us to index your connections and verify your identity. No other action is necessary for us to begin syncing your LinkedIn contacts.

How It Works

Important: Indexing typically takes a few days to complete, especially when you have a large number of connections. When you first sign up, you'll see a loading bar at the top of your account indicating that indexing is in progress. You don’t have to wait around since indexing continues even if you close the app or navigate elsewhere.

Once the process is complete, the progress bar will disappear. At that point, your whole network will be indexed, and you’ll be able to take advantage of People Search when looking up profiles.

You will also see us processing and indexing your connections in the Nav bar. You can visit the Contacts tab at any time to view your connections in more detail and see the status of your contact sync.

Indexing during Search

We’ll also show when we’re indexing your connections during search. We recommend waiting for indexing to complete to try People Search. You can try investor or company search right away, as it will search all of Distill’s database, and is not dependent on processing your connections.
