Find the Right People in Your Network using People Search

People Search helps you quickly find the right person in your and others' networks. You can use filters to identify people who meet your specific criteria and sort through your results.

Recommended: If you are looking for a particular company or person, try Search Lookup first first.

Here’s how to use People Search

Click on 🔍Search in the Nav bar on the left-hand side of your Distill account. You can also start one here: https://distill.fyi/search/advanced/

  1. Type in what you’re looking for using natural language. What you are looking for will be broken down as traits that you can use to modify or emphasize.
  1. Choose which network you want to look through
    • You can look through your own contacts only so you have an immediate connection.
    • You can also browse your shared contacts to see your expanded network. This is enabled by default. See: How to Connect and Share Contacts on Distill
      • You can choose a specific team member’s network. Left-click on the team member(s) or unselect the team member you do not want to look through.
    • Advanced - You can also provide us with an example of someone similar to whom you’re looking for. Add or find the ideal profile.
  1. Confirm if you’re looking for people, companies, or investors.
  1. Press Search and review the results. We’ll include options to:
    1. See their profile description
    1. View the full profile
    1. Add to a List (you can hit save to add to a List, or reject to hide from you search)
    1. See intro paths and who you can speak with to connect with them.
    1. You will see your search broken down into traits, which you can use to define your search in terms of what you’re looking for more easily and help you refine it later.

How to Edit People Search Results

  1. Click on Edit button next to the traits to modify your search. You can edit traits or use them as something that is important or nice to have.
  1. You can suggest changes, and those updates will also show up as traits as well.
  1. Your search results will update with the changes.
